Chaplaincy

Located in the centre of the building, the Hawthorn chapel acts as the heart of the school. A peaceful place of rest and reflection for students and staff alike, the chapel hosts many activities offered through the school’s Catholic education program. Once a week, Catholic students participate in Holy Mass with their class. Students from the Upper School are free to go more than once, and those of other faiths and backgrounds are welcome to attend as well. The chaplain is available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation at designated times.

At the request of the board of directors, the chaplaincy is entrusted to the Prelature of Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church. The founder of Opus Dei, Saint Josemaria Escriva, taught that ordinary work and the little things of everyday life can be a way to find God and to serve others.
